Student Development Theory

Student development theories explore the interpersonal, intrapersonal, and cognitive dimensions of development for students in the context of higher education. Understanding student development theory is useful in both curricular and co-curricular contexts.  In this theoretical integration, I explain some basic concepts in student development theory, using music as a metaphor. The intent is to explain student development theory in an accessible way to people who may have little to no experience in the field of student affairs and higher education.
